If the lips are drawn apart, so &#97&#115 to show the &#116&#101&#101&#116&#104 or gums, the &#115&#101&#97&#116 &#111&#102 the pain is &#105&#110 &#116&#104&#101 belly. This sign, however, will only be &#112&#114&#101&#115&#101&#110&#116 &#100&#117&#114&#105&#110&#103 &#116&#104&#101 actual &#101&#120&#105&#115&#116&#101&#110&#99&#101 of suffering if, therefore, there be &#97&#110&#121 &#100&#111&#117&#98&#116 whether it exist, &#112&#114&#101&#115&#115 upon the &#115&#116&#111&#109&#97&#99&#104, and &#119&#97&#116&#99&#104 the &#101&#105&#102&#101&#99&#116 on the expression &#111&#102 the countenance.

If, however, the disease be more serious, and inflammation ensue, &#116&#104&#105&#115 &#115&#105&#103&#110 will be &#109&#111&#114&#101 constantly present, and &#115&#111&#111&#110 &#116&#104&#101 countenance will &#98&#101&#99&#111&#109&#101 &#112&#97&#108&#101, &#111&#114 sallow &#97&#110&#100 sunken, &#116&#104&#101 child &#119&#105&#108&#108 dread &#109&#111&#116&#105&#111&#110, and lie upon its back with &#116&#104&#101 knees bent &#117&#112 to &#116&#104&#101 belly, the &#116&#111&#110&#103&#117&#101 will be &#108&#111&#97&#100&#101&#100, and in &#98&#114&#101&#97&#116&#104&#105&#110&#103, while the &#99&#104&#101&#115&#116 &#119&#105&#108&#108 &#98&#101 seen to &#104&#101&#97&#118&#101 &#119&#105&#116&#104 more &#116&#104&#97&#110 usual effort, &#116&#104&#101 &#109&#117&#115&#99&#108&#101&#115 &#111&#102 &#116&#104&#101 &#98&#101&#108&#108&#121 will remain perfectly quiescent.

If the nostrils are drawn &#117&#112&#119&#97&#114&#100&#115 &#97&#110&#100 in quick &#109&#111&#116&#105&#111&#110, &#112&#97&#105&#110 exists &#105&#110 the chest. The upper lip will be &#100&#114&#97&#119&#110 up, and is occasionally bluish or livid. &#84&#104&#101&#110 there may be &#115&#108&#105&#103&#104&#116 squinting, &#111&#114 &#97 &#115&#105&#110&#103&#117&#108&#97&#114 rotation &#111&#102 the eye upon its &#111&#119&#110 axis &#97&#108&#116&#101&#114&#110&#97&#116&#101 flushing &#111&#114 paleness of the &#102&#97&#99&#101 &#97&#110&#100 &#115&#117&#100&#100&#101&#110 animation followed by languor.

These signs will sometimes manifest &#116&#104&#101&#109&#115&#101&#108&#118&#101&#115 many hours, &#110&#97&#121 days, before &#116&#104&#101 attack &#111&#99&#99&#117&#114&#115 may &#98&#101 &#108&#111&#111&#107&#101&#100 &#117&#112&#111&#110 as premonitory &#97&#110&#100 if &#116&#105&#109&#101&#108&#121 noticed, and suitable medical &#97&#105&#100 resorted &#116&#111, the occurrence &#111&#102 &#97 fit &#109&#97&#121 &#98&#101 &#97&#108&#116&#111&#103&#101&#116&#104&#101&#114 &#112&#114&#101&#118&#101&#110&#116&#101&#100.

The &#115&#116&#97&#116&#101 of the eyes should always &#98&#101 attended to. In health they are &#99&#108&#101&#97&#114 and bright, but in disease they &#98&#101&#99&#111&#109&#101 dull, and give a heavy appearance &#116&#111 the countenance though &#97&#102&#116&#101&#114 long continued &#105&#114&#114&#105&#116&#97&#116&#105&#111&#110 &#116&#104&#101&#121 will &#97&#115&#115&#117&#109&#101 &#97 degree of quickness which is very remarkable, &#97&#110&#100 a sort of pearly &#98&#114&#105&#103&#104&#116&#110&#101&#115&#115 &#119&#104&#105&#99&#104 is better &#107&#110&#111&#119&#110 &#102&#114&#111&#109 &#111&#98&#115&#101&#114&#118&#97&#116&#105&#111&#110 &#116&#104&#97&#110 &#105&#116 can be &#102&#114&#111&#109 description.

The hands &#111&#102 a &#99&#104&#105&#108&#100 in health are rarely carried above its mouth but let there be any thing wrong about the head and pain &#112&#114&#101&#115&#101&#110&#116, and the little &#111&#110&#101’&#115 hands &#119&#105&#108&#108 be constantly raised to &#116&#104&#101 head and face.

It &#105&#115 frequently connected with approaching disorder of the brain. It &#109&#97&#121 forebode a convulsive fit, and such suspicion is confirmed, if &#121&#111&#117 find the thumb of the child drawn in and &#102&#105&#114&#109&#108&#121 &#112&#114&#101&#115&#115&#101&#100 upon the palm, &#119&#105&#116&#104 the fingers so compressed upon &#105&#116, &#116&#104&#97&#116 the hand cannot be forced &#111&#112&#101&#110 without difficulty. &#84&#104&#101 same &#99&#111&#110&#100&#105&#116&#105&#111&#110 &#119&#105&#108&#108 &#101&#120&#105&#115&#116 in the &#116&#111&#101&#115, but not to so great &#97 degree there may also be a &#112&#117&#102&#102&#121 state of &#116&#104&#101 back of the &#104&#97&#110&#100&#115 and feet, and both &#102&#111&#111&#116 and &#119&#114&#105&#115&#116 bent downwards.

These signs, as also those &#101&#110&#117&#109&#101&#114&#97&#116&#101&#100 above, are confirmed beyond all &#100&#111&#117&#98&#116, if &#116&#104&#101&#114&#101 be present &#99&#101&#114&#116&#97&#105&#110 alterations in the usual habits of the child: &#105&#102 the &#115&#108&#101&#101&#112 is disturbed, if there &#98&#101 frequent fits of crying, great peevishness &#111&#102 temper, the &#99&#111&#117&#110&#116&#101&#110&#97&#110&#99&#101 alternately flushed and pale, sudden animation followed &#98&#121 &#97&#115 sudden a &#102&#105&#116 &#111&#102 languor, catchings &#111&#102 the breath &#102&#111&#108&#108&#111&#119&#101&#100 by a long and deep inspiration, &#97&#108&#108 so many premonitory symptoms of an &#97&#112&#112&#114&#111&#97&#99&#104&#105&#110&#103 attack.

Whenever a child has the symptoms of a common cold, attended by hoarseness &#97&#110&#100 a rough cough, always look upon it with suspicion, and never &#110&#101&#103&#108&#101&#99&#116 seeking a medical &#111&#112&#105&#110&#105&#111&#110.
